KIDS & YOUTH ART TERM PROGRAMME

TOTALLY CREATIVE Term Programme 2008

Classes incorporate a variety of painting, sculpture, collage, drawing and construction. All materials and equipment are supplied and afternoon tea is provided. Classes allow for one-on-one time and specialised art tutoring in age appropriate groups.

Juniors: 4 to 7
The aim at this age is to guide a child’s natural talent and development. Every child has their own sense of colour, design and dramatic story-telling. These talents are developed by offering encouragement, enthusiasm and example. As well, beautiful colours in good quality art materials of all kinds are offered… all at the right size for young artists.

Intermediate: 8 to 13
At this stage of rapid growth, precious talents may be lost for all sorts of reasons including changing world perception, loss of confidence, peer group pressure and the development of other interests. These talents, however, can be nurtured by catering specifically for the new world perception that these children have. At this level of ‘dawning realism’, more emphasis is placed on accurate drawing and close observation in topics particularly relevant to this age group. Classes include design, landscape, still-life, portraits, lettering and more.

Advanced: 13 to 16
In the advanced group we introduce many new painting and drawing techniques as well as building on the wide range of styles and subjects previously introduced. We aim to stimulate interest in art generally including art history and theory as well as skill development. Emphasis is placed on developing the individual student’s own interest.

2008-09 DATES
The Art Term Programme classes take place on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons. Each term runs for eight weeks.
• Term 4: Starts Monday 20 October 2008
• Term 1: Starts Monday 9 February 2009
• Term 2: Starts Monday 4 May 2009
• Term 3: Starts Monday 27 July 2009
• Term 4: Starts Monday 19 October 2009

TIME
• 3.45pm – 5.30pm (afternoon tea at 3.30pm)

COST
• $125.00 (incl GST) one afternoon per week for eight weeks

Exhibitions

END OF TERM CHILDREN'S ART EXHIBTIONS
At the end of every term, an Exhibition/Performance is held on the Friday evening for family and friends.
• Term 1: Friday 11 April
• Term 2: Friday 4 July
• Term 3: Friday 19 September

2008 KIDS' ART FINALE
• Friday 5 December – Friday 12 December
A painting, drawing and sculpture exhibition open to children from all schools. The exhibition is shown in MARCO gallery | project space and prizes and certificates are awarded.
